Question:
Is hunter or forest green a strange color for a mid summer wedding?

My fiance and I are talking about colors for our wedding. He says that ultimately he will like whatever I choose but he has suggested a really dark green (like forest or hunter) on several occasions. I want him to like the color but I can't help but feel like it's a color that's more appropriate for winter and something like sage green doesn't seem to appeal to him. Seems very "Christmasy" to me and our wedding will be in late July. Any feedback? Is this a good color for summer?

I think it's a great color for summer. When you think about it, what color summarizes summer more than green - any shade? The pastel season is over and you're not into fall colors yet. Of course, I also believe people should pick whatever color they want, regardless of season!

It won't look Christmasy at all and you have lots of pretty options. Sky (pale) blue goes well with this, as does pink. Then just add some white. I think it would be pretty.

I wouldn't mind forest green in the summer. I mean, the color IS inspired by shaded trees in a forest. If you live where there's snow, you don't see leaves in the winter-- only evergreens. I would do a bit of a muted forest green, though. Not too bright, but dark enough to make him happy. I'd pair it with something earthy, if that's your style. OR something with the color of a flower. Think of plant stems- some of those are a darker green as well, not light.

You do not have to go with color "trends," since colors (unless they're crazy bio hazard neon green-brown-yellow, I don't even know HOW to explain it) all show up in nature somewhere. If you do nature-inspired colors, it could be a summer theme without actually being... a summer theme.

We narrowed our color choices down to 2-

Dark, forest green and medium-violet or,

Ocean Blue and moss.

We're leaning toward the first one. :-)

And our wedding will be in the summer season.

Just choose an accent color in a more summer color. Like a bright or light pink. I picked a deep purple for my late spring wedding but I had a bright accent color that made it feel a little more like summertime. In my opinion though, you should do what colors you like and don't get to pinned in by seasonal colors!

Edit: I was thinking along the lines of having the bridesmaid's dresses in the forest green but using bright flowers with dark greenery. It could be very pretty! And it's a compromise- he gets the green and you get the brighter color!

How about teal? It is close to green, and summer-y enough. I asked a similar question, since I will have to attend a wedding in July, and everyone suggested pastels. Pastels for a redhead? No way! It is true that forest or hunter green is a little bit too winter-y. I like your idea of wearing black and white, it is very accepted at weddings nowadays, as long as it is really an equal mix of the two, or more black, and not more white because this could be considered as wanting to outdo the bride.

My wedding colors were Dark green and pink, and I got married in late June. So yes you can have green. What I did so it wouldn't feel so heavy is chose chiffon for the bridesmaids so it was airy and light. It looked very pretty, and I got tons of compliments because of how the colors aren't traditional for Summer. With the pink it wasn't "Christmasy" at all. If you don't like pink, choose something else light, a sage green would look pretty with the dark green, lavender, baby blue, or even a light yellow. Hope this helps.

I think if you accessorize the dark green with brightly colored accessories like sashes and flowers, it would work out nicely for a summer wedding, especially if the wedding is taking place in the evening. I would simply add bright colors as accents to it to make it more seasonally appropriate and really make a statement!

Check into colors like dark green and a hot pink or magenta. That may look really cool and be awesome for summer!

honestly I think its more of a fall shade.

try something brighter like clover, peridot or kelly green.

Those seem more summer/spring colors and they are very lovely with white or ivory

Sage green is a little too pale brighter colors are best for summer.

well honestly it is more of a late fall and winter color......but ultimately it's about what you want and what you choose. If this is a color choice that you're seriously considering I'd look around to see if you have difficulty getting that color in flowers, dresses, etc and make your decision based on your findings.

sorry sweetie but its not the 90's anymore. Hunter or forest green is a thing of the past. Try olive or even grass green like the yahoo answers color mixed with some orange, fuschia or something. especially for summer. bright colors are the way to go in the summer.
