Do you think my bridesmaids carrying a single rose would be ok?

Instead of an entire bouquet? I want it to be simple AND I'm trying to seriously cut costs any way I can. BTW any other cost-cutting ideas are welcome.

I think it would be fine. Maybe tie a satin ribbon around the middle of the stem for decoration.

A single rose will be beautiful, elegant and simple. I know because this is what I almost did for my wedding... I happened to know the florist for a long time and he upgraded me to 3 roses. Tie a ribbon around the stem to match the dress and it will be PERFECT. I also was on a strict budget for my wedding. Here are some things I did to cut costs.....

1. Guest list of only close friends and family, kept under 65

2. Made my own invitations on the computer

3. Ceremony and Reception in the same location

4. Wedding was on a Sunday afternoon (typically Friday nights or Sunday afternoons are less expensive)

5. Made my own favors (chocolate lolly pops) and tied with personalized ribbons I ordered from EBAY

6. Made my own sign in book.... wasn't a book...I placed a photo of me and my fiance in a mat and had everyone sign that

7. DJ instead of a band (some may say you don't need music/dancing....this is NOT true. The top three things people rememer about a wedding is the bride, the food and the music!

8. Keep centerpieces simple too.... A single rose in a stem glass with some greens and baby's breath.... simple, elegant, and will match your bridesmaids flowers :)

9. Use an easle with a handmade decorated board showing the table assignments instead of individual placecards

10. Alcohol..... see if venue will let you supply your own. Anything unopened (except beer) and unchilled can be returned to the liquor store.

I think that sounds great! Is your bouquet going to be roses too? I ask because I was just married in May and I wanted my girls' bouquets to match mine but on a much smaller scale. I was married on Mother's Day weekend so luckily my favorite flower, the Tulip, was not that expensive compared to what roses were going for. They all just carried a very small bouquet of pink and cream tulips. It was gorgeous but simple and very inexpensive. I know places like Sam's Club, Costco, etc. sell bunches of flowers like tulips, carnations, etc so you could easily just put together your own little bouquet or arrangement without having the cost of a florist!

I think it may look nice...simple is always better I think. When it comes to cutting costs and having a really nice wedding, you have to rely on friends and family... First of all cut down your list, do you know anyone who is a great baker that could make your cake at cost? Any family friends in a good band, or perhaps a DJ...use all your resources...and don't stress out to much about it, it's your day and it will be wonderful no matter what.

a single rose would be lovely especially with the ribbon idea. Maybe add a little faux crystal droplet to give it some sparkle. I also like the idea of bridesmaid carrying thos flower balls. Which can be very economical and modern looking.

I love the idea of a brunch/luncheon wedding. I dont like formal sit down dinners. I want to be married mid-morning, the freshest and sunniest part of our day.

Yes that would be lovely with a single rose. And cut the number of bridesmaids also. Have the reception short and no dancing. You do not need to have favors. ( if you havent already planned everything) Luncheon is less expensive than dinner of course. Dont have limos except for the bride and groom. Dont have a bachelorette party. Best wishes

It sounds fine; simple elegance. Homemade favors are another good way to cut costs as is printing your own invitations from a home computer and having the ceremony and reception in the same location.

Its your wedding, if you want bouquets but are looking to cut costs, try carnations, real ones usually go for .40 each so you can do a dozen carnations for less than $5. Fake flowers tend to be more expensive, (i've checked). If you call a florists they can simply order you bulk carnations and then hand tie them yourself.

Very nice idea. Maybe wrap the stems in nice ribbon will spice them up a bit.

Check your local Craigslist.org for other cost cutting wedding ideas (try the forums)

Good Luck!

I think it sounds lovely - Just remember You are the bride, it is your wedding and it is about love. Don't let the standards of others rule your judgment.

I wish you a wonderful wedding and a Happy Marriage!!!
