I'm getting married in Newport RI. How much should I give the director at the Rosecliff Mansion for a tip?

My wedding is before you know it. I'm getting married at the Rosecliff Mansion in Newport RI. I'm trying to understand what is customary for tipping. Phil is the director at the mansion responsible for renting the space and overseaing the event.

Next is the Caterer. That is completely separate. The caterer not only charges for the food, but also a hefty service charge. On top of that they have recommended tips... I just don't understand why they have the service fee. Doesn't that include the tips?

Help me understand who I have to give a tip to. I'm paying thousands to rent out the mansion, do I need to pay on top of that for someone to oversea the event?

For the Caterer, if there is already a hefty service charge in the numbers, do I have to give them additional $$?

Please help me understand what is appropriate. I don't want to short change anyone, but I also don't want to give away my very hard earned money. THANKS!

WOW!!! RoseCliff mansion in R.I.!! LUCKY YOU!!!! That's my dream location... (we still don't know whether to do it in Newport or the Cape).

Anyway,. You don't need to tip anyone that charges a service fee. You don't tip the catering company sincegratuity is included in their fee.

If Phil's fee is included in the Mansion's fee, them yes, tip Phil if he does a great job.

Do tip the valet parking guys.

Good luck

At my wedding, the service charge I believe was the tip. The catering and the reception hall were the same. I think the one person who helped out got 2% tip on the total cost of the food and reception hall or $200. And we gave the bridal attendant $100.

i dont htink u shoudl tip the caterer at all. u paid for his services, there is no need to tip. the only one u should tip is the matrid who will organize the dishes going out and make sure ur guests are seated. i 'd tip them 100 bucks. but use ur descretion. newport is so beautiful, best of luck to you.

comission is already included in the price you are paying and the director gets a cut of that. Unless they do the most amazing job ever, you really od not need to tip them extra.
