Question:
Does anyone have any ideas for a resort 'lodge' wedding reception that doesn't come across as trashy?

We are going to be getting married in a romantic resort lodge (Lied Lodge in Nebraska) that acts as both a hotel and a resort. We are looking for any ideas (decorations and colors) that would work well in the reception lodge and not come across as 'hick' or 'trashy.' The reception lodge has wood (cabin appearance) walls with a fireplace in front. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Hi and congratulations!

I looked up the resort online and it's BEAUTIFUL! Nothing about it would be "hick" or "trashy!" I would just go with whatever you like for table centerpieces. In their brochure, they state that they have mirror tiles and 4 votive candles for each table. I would certainly use those AND then add to it with a bouquet of flowers...it can be as simple or as elaborate as you want and your budget allows!

The place is really beautiful, though. I would not go hog wild on decorating. Keep it more simple and let the beauty of the building and the surroundings take over. Simply go with some nice table centerpieces and maybe "fancy up" a bit the head table, but that would be all I would do.

Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful day!

Cabin walls are far from trashy and hick. Instead they are full of character and warmth. I would think about the seasons outside and figure out what the colors will be. Will there be snow on the ground? Winter wonderland colors then. If it's summer, then bright colors to coordinate with the bright greens of summer. In the fall you can use warm colors to mimic the changing leaves.

What an absolutely stunning place to have a wedding. There is nothing trashy & hick about the place.

you could make that work for you. Try going with white lights and flowers to bring in the elegance. Add some greens to go along with the lodge effect. And definitely use brown ribbons? are there any stairs? I would use candles too, to give it the romantic glow. Congratulations
