We are getting married May 1st 2010, our wedding colors are black,fuchsia/hot pink and of course ivory since my dress is ivory. I had picked out black bridesmaid dresses with fuchsia sashes at first but then we decided to change them to hot pink/fuchsia because the guys are wearing black tuxes with a black shirt and hot pink/fuchsia ties. I thought this would be too much black?? Here is the website for the pink dress we picked out http://www.discountdressshop.com/best-seller-fuchsia-spaghetti-strap-empire-waist-dress.html
Should I go with the pink dress or black? Also what colors should I do the bouquets?

i am doing all black bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen will have black vest on black shirts with black jacket and silver tie...the more black around you the more your dress will stand out..do a all pink bouquets and pink boutonnieres and a pink sash on the black dress will help to break up the black so i don't think it would be too much black

FIRST see what is available in the sizes you need as that may dictate your color choice. These dresses are marked down, and perhaps will be discontinued soon, so you got to get on the ball and order them as soon as possible.

On a bridesmaid standpoint, I would wear a black dress again. But, fuchsia would look so much nicer with the black tuxes and for that time of year. If you go with black or fuchsia, star gazer lilies have beautiful fuchsia colors in them and will look stunning against the black dress or a fuchia dress. A classic few stems with the long stems wrapped in ivory ribbon would be spectacular.

It depends on the time of day of your wedding. If it is daytime, go with the fuchsia. If it is at night, go with the black. The fuchsia flowers will pop against the black. Daytime, use pearl accents. Night, use a lot of candles. Very elegant. I would use an ivory flower with a fuchsia touch (like roses with fuchsia tips) if you go with the fuchsia dress. Fuchsia and black still very hot trend.

If the dress cannot "give" the half inch, that means you need more than a half of an inch to make this dress fit you. As an experienced dressmaker, I can tell you that rouching is often done so with a slip stitch that attaches the rouching to a lining; as a result there may not be the seam allowance needed to let four seams out. And, if the dress is so tight, the narrow seams could let go under stress. So, if letting out the seams is going to happen, you have to be sure it will not compromise the integrity of the dress. Letting out the zipper seam should only be done by a pro. Your other option, as mentioned by others, is to alter the dress to be a corset lace up back. That is the route I would go with, without a question or a doubt. You need to be comfortable and be able to move, dance, breathe and eat.

I like the idea of the fuchsia dresses better then the idea of black dresses with fuchsia. Also, I thought fuchsia was more purple than pink so, your dresses you are thinking about are pink? Do you not like purple? I am probably confused?

Those were the colors for my daughter's wedding last june.

The bridesmaids were in black dresses, carried hot pink flowers of gerber daisies. Guys were in black tuxes with hot pink ties. and matching hot pink boutineers.

Looked really beautiful at the wedding and gorgeous pictures.

That pink dress is hideous, not to be rude. A 9th grader would wear that with flip flops to homecoming. I would say do not go with black dresses. This is a wedding not a funeral. Personally I would rethink the whole black and fascia as your wedding colours because they don't go well together, are out of date, and a little tacky. Perhaps try doing a dark red and black? Maybe a nice sky blue colour?

If you picked dark red you could always make their dresses dark red with ivory flowers. Then your ivory dress could go with red flowers.

Please go with the pink. Black is funereal, not happy-wedding.

How about some mixed bouquets?
