We're 16 and engaged. And before you say anything immature or unnecessary, we have known each other since we were 12 and we have been dating for 1 year and 2 months. Both of our parents know. We just have a question on what we need to do to get this marriage license in California. This is the California Marriage Law. Anyone want to put it into simpler words?

California - If either the bride or groom is under 18, at least one of the minor's parents, or legal guardian, must appear with the couple. Certified copies of birth certificates are required. The couple must also schedule an appointment with a counselor and then appear before a superior court judge.

It's pretty clear. Unless English is your second language, if you don't understand it, you are too young to marry.

For under aged children ( at 16 you are still a child) wanting to marry....

1) Each of you must bring a parent to where you apply for a marriage license

2) You must have your birth certificates with you-not copies but ones with an official seal or stamp.

3) You must sit down with a counselor who will talk/interview you both

4) A superior court judge must then rule on whether you can get married. The counselor's recommendations will figure greatly in his or her decision.

If the Judge says no...you wait until age 18.

--interior the USA, all yet 2 states require a pair be age 18 as a fashion to marry without parental consent. Nebraska instruments the age at 19 and Mississippi at 21 on the time of this writing (might 2003). some states will waive this requirement if there's a being pregnant in contact, however the couple ought to nonetheless ought to have court approval. indiana::an authorized replica of your beginning certificates is needed. in case you're 17 years previous you should coach for the license with the two dad and mom (or the guy with criminal custody). they are going to might desire to sign the consent ingredient of the utility. in case you're sixteen or 15 years previous, you should petition the Circuit court with the aid of a "Permission to Marry" style.!! so.ya i assume its unlawful

Meaning since you're BOTH under 18 you need your parents to go with you, you need both of your birth certificates AND a judge must approve the marriage. So if the judge does not approve you wait the two years until you're adults.

you need to take at least 1 parent with you when you apply for your license to sign it and give their permission.you need to get your birth certificates confirmed as original and true.you will need to see a counsellor with your partner and then go in front of a judge to explain why you want to get married at such a young age (i would imagine)

it means your parents have to go to court with you. you need to have your birth certificates and you need to go to counseling before you can get married.

If you don't understand this simple paragraph, you're still too young and dumb to get married.

Marriage is much more complicated than this.
