Are you talking about a resource for deciding what items to register for, or what stores you should choose for your registry/registries?

If you just want a sample list, you can look online at the websites for Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot. Stores that offer registries typically offer suggested checklists as well, either printed out at the store and/or online.

If you are asking what stores to choose, that's up to you. Think about what's in your area, because you'll have to travel there to register and maybe exchange/return stuff, so you don't want to pick a place that's a six-hour drive from you. And you also need to consider what's convenient for your guests, so don't pick a store that's only located in one state (assuming you'll have people coming in from other areas ... if your whole guest list is local, then by all means go with a local-only store).

You also need to offer a wide range of prices. Don't pick a store where everything starts at $200. By the same token, don't register at the dollar store because some people will want to get you a bigger gift. Pick a store that offers variety. Register for several things under $25, several things $25-100, a handful of things $100-200, and possibly a couple things $200+ (sometimes a close relative or a group of people/the bridesmaids chip in for one large gift).

It's O.K. to pick two stores, MAYBE three if the third is a very unique store (like if you pick Macy's and Target but go with something really upscale for your crystal and china). We went with Macy's and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Other options:

Crate and Barrel

Wal-Mart

Target

Williams Sonoma

Sur la Table

Kohl's

Dillard's

JC Penny

Tiffany's

Bloomingdale's

Pottery Barn

I agree with the first answer, but you could also include an online place like amazon.com. They have so much to choose from in the home and decor area, and for people who shop online, it's so convenient. And they do have a wedding registry.

The other cool thing is anything you don't get off that registry you can just switch over to your wish list.

PS - LOL! I obviously disagree, Blunt. I've been using them for years, both for myself and others, and I've never had a problem with them. If you go to separate shops, you'd need to review their comments, I'd think. But I love that place.

We're registered at Target and Bed Bath & Beyond. Target was wonderful, there's a lot of variety and the price ranges were good.

Bed Bath is nice..but the process was frustrating for me. The sales reps really, and I mean REALLY push their china. I actually had the associate come back to us as we were scanning items to us push the china again. Also, the associates stay with you while you pick out items. They don't just give you the scanner and let you have at it. Personally I HATED the process. They push the high end items and don't take no for an answer. I actually had to ask the associate if it was ok if just my fiance and I did it ourselves since I'm "indecisive". In actuality I felt so pressured and wanted to just do it with my fiance.

Bed Bath has nice items, but I think Target had a better selection on some items. So we did both. Kohl's is really nice too, I almost wish I would have went there instead of Bed Bath.

Just make sure you include a lot of different price ranges and keep your guests in mind. Don't go too crazy on the items though. My go to rule, that I kept asking my fiance when he wanted expensive items, ask yourself "Would I spend this much on this item if it I were buying it for myself?" If yes then by all means register for it. Good luck and congrats!! :)

I loved Target and Bed,Bath, and Beyond. as someone who created registries at both places, the were very simple to set up, and add and delete items. Both places are easy to shop at. Target has the aisle number on the print out for the customer, and Bed, bath, and Beyond employees will show you excatly where the item is, and will even gift wrap it for you.

Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond for most people. I did amazon and hated it, they lost my gifts, delivered to the buyer and not me and the people from costumer service that answer in india couldn't care less and read from a script. Not recommended.

@Messykat: I love amazon, don;t get me wrong, I've been a faithful buyer since 1999! but the bridal registry REALLY stinks! It got so bad that someone ended up calling me from corporate here in the USA to apologize. The indian people kept telling me to "ask your guests where are your gifts, we can't help you".At the end, my guests ended up going through the annoyance of returning the gifts and then they had to re-send them to me,, weeks later. It was a mess.... I do not recommend their bridal registry.

We wanted to make sure we got good prices for our guests coming, so we did Target & Amazon.com, Amazon for the online shoppers because it offers free shipping on anything over $25. Then we did target because we do not need expensive china or pottery barn or anything, we wanted to get the most for our money so we went with the two most convenient/inexpensive places.

Sears

Make sure you coordinate the registries so you don't get duplicates!

anyplace where you can get items that are useful. nothing is worse than having a cupboard full of china &chrystal that you will never use and is for display onlyand is usually never used. some of these items are extremely expensive and in this type of things they are basically worthless. some great places to register are bed, bath & beyond or linens & things. you might also yry macys
