Considering doing my own wedding flowers, need tips and useful links?
I'm exploring an idea and a possibility of doing my now wedding flowers, since i have an expensive taste and a small budget. I really like this type of centerpiece: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http…

But florist quotes I got were around $170-200 per centerpiece, I need 15 of them. I only have 2.5k to spend on flowers.

Anyone has links with step by step directions on how to arrange flowers like that?
How far in advance can I make my own flowers so they don't wither on the day of my wedding? Do I need to make them the same morning, or can I do it 24 hours in advance? Will it still look the same if i do it ahead of time?

thank you

Not a good idea at all. Worked at a florist and these flowers are pricey and you do not want to take the change of them ruining. You will need storage space, a big cooler as these can only be made up the day of the wedding or night before and put in a cooler. They will not good if done 24 hrs. before if you have not cooler. Not just because I worked in a florist, but this is not a good idea from any standpoint and if you do not know anything about decorating, now is not the time to start. You need greenery, water picks, oasis foam, etc. Go ahead and pay for them, get what you want, if you can't, have florist make smaller or cut out some of the more expensive flowers. There is no way that you should try to make 15 centerpieces on the day of your wedding, you will be exhausted and very frustrated. Flowers have to be cut in certain lengths, etc., just don't want you to ruin your wedding day.

You can get flower arrangements off ebay, they do your color and don't have it they will find it. You have to dig for them though. I see some cute stuff on there, I was thinking about going that route but now I am doing my own.

My Idea: I need 23 centerpieces for 23 tables that seat 12 people. So I bought a package of the decomposable flower pots, wrapped each one with tissue paper of my wedding colors which are blue and white. So I have 12 blue and 13 white. Then I put that floral sponge stuff in the bottom and placed my white, blue, and turquoise roses in them to my liking. I got a lot of feed back on how cute they are and I am no professional. I have long rectangle tables. I am putting two tables together placing one centerpiece in the middle, spreading my wedding stones on the table and putting one rose on each side to set it off and some candles. I only spent around 400 dollars for all, and it adds my special touch cause I am doing all the centerpieces.

Plus my fiancee was involved since we did them right in our home at are leisure. Good luck though. I also am making my bridesmaid flowers too. The only thing I am buying from a florist is my bouqet and his flower.

Congrats on the wedding.

My sister arranged the flowers for her daughter's wedding. She took a flower arranging class at her local JoAnn's/Micheals/Hobby Lobby/craft store. Almost every craft store in my area offers classes. Then, order your flowers from Sams or Costco, they offer bulk flowers and probably the only way you can purchase in bulk without being in the trade.

I couldn't see your link, it just pulled up the google images search window, but if you use more filler like greenery or baby's breath in place of stems of flowers, that can save you BUNDLES on your flowers.

Florists do their arranging the day before events, usually. They just keep the arrangements in a cooler, so that they'll stay fresher longer. However, storing 15 centerpieces for a wedding is going to take up a LOT of refrigerator space. If someone has a basement, that would be good too.

Good luck!

I dont understand in the experience that your florist might desire to try this, besides the incontrovertible fact that that's well worth asking. I have been given married final march and the florist instructed me that to do a flower affiliation may be 60 funds yet when I went and offered my very own flower they might only cost me 10 funds. yet I additionally had fake vegetation Craft shops have particularly some diverse flower to % between too, good success
