We had lilac, pink, yellow and light teal. Before we even thought of colours, we had gone 'looking' for ideas for bridesmaids' dresses. Well, the girls all fell in love with these beautiful summer dresses, tea-length, full skirt, sweetheart neckline, basque waistline and full skirt, short sleeves, and open back with wide straps crossing over. They were glossy white fabric, with little flowers on them of the aforementioned colours, resembling watercolor painted flowers. So that's where I pulled the colours from. I had a MOH and three bridesmaids, so each woman and her groomsman had 'a colour" - for example, one bridesmaid wore a pink wreath of flowers in her hair, had pink ribbons trailing from her bouquet, and her groomsman matched her (they all wore light grey tuxes) by having a pink bowtie and cummerbund.
It all made for a very beautiful, co-ordinated look! And it was fun to decorate with so many colours.
I've been to scores of weddings, and have seen every colour and colour combination under the sun. What didn't look great was a dark burgundy that looked almost black (and did look black in photos); the red and white fiasco - which just looked nuts; and the latest we were at had the bridesmaids in a champagne colour, which was just really, really boring. Many girls on Answers talk about using chocolate and pink, and I personally think it's just crazy - dull and too much like ice cream.
Prettiest I saw was a wedding in peach, looked really elegant.
