Definitely, find a hall that doesn't have a liquor license. It's much cheaper to bring in your own, typically they mark up liquor 100%. Also, to really save money, only serve beer and wine and soft drinks. A buffet is usually cheaper than a sit down dinner and it's nicer. Everyone can pick what they want to eat instead of getting whatever shows up on the plate. I usually starve at sit down dinners, because they're usually something I won't eat.



Don't let the florist talk you into $50 centerpieces. Not necessary, there are lots of centerpieces that can be done for less than $10. Go to your local arts and crafts store, buy a glass bowl, fill part way with water and float some blooms in the water. Much less than a typical florist arrangement. Don't buy a four figure wedding gown. I have seen a $5000 gown up close and personal and I'm here to tell you, it doesn't look that much better than a $500 gown from Davids. You can't tell the difference at all in the pictures or on the video.



Don't rent limos or any other kind of transport, they're a very expensive, waste of money. I went to my wedding in my dad's pickup (it looked nice, not a beater). We left the church in my mom's car, she has a nice Cadillac.



I will say that you should spend as much as you can on a photographer. This is the only part of your wedding that is permanent. Go with the best person you can afford.



Don't buy really expensive invitations, no one but you and maybe your mom, will keep them. I ordered mine from one of the companies that advertises in the wedding magazines. Send away for all those catalogs and order from one that you like.



Order a small tiered wedding cake to cut, instead of a cake that will serve everyone, and have sheet cakes in the back that the caterer can serve to guests. Also, a good place to get a cake that's not too expensive is a grocery store with a good bakery.



Skip favors all together or go with something simple and inexpensive. Wrap up some Hershey kisses in tulle and your good to go.



I hope this was helpful, have a good wedding. Another course of action you might want to consider is a destination wedding on a cruise or at an all inclusive resort. You get your wedding and honeymoon all in one, plus you can invite whoever you want but you don't have to pay for a reception because it's all inclusive. Friends of ours did this in December, it was fun and about 40 people were there. We got a 4 day vacation and a great wedding on a beautiful island. I don't remember how much it cost us, but it wasn't bad, since we got a vacation out of it. Where I am from now it is very common to have the meal in the church basement after the wedding. You can always contact the group at the church who does the funeral meal and ask for their help in serving.



You can everything done a head of time. Many guests are happy with ham or turkey sandiches, a couple of salads, chips. beans and then the wedding cake. Serve coffee, milk or water.



Let them go through line. You can have the church basement decorated with plastic table clothes. Then you can find a place that has music.



Book a DJ. much better then a live band. .live band takes breaks all the time. Most places will not charge you for the use of their building like the legion club. because people will be drinking and that brings in money.



But if you were to have the meal there, then they would charge. You can not stop outsiders from coming into a bar or dance and drinking.



So in the invitations give each adult three drink tickets. You can buy a huge role for under five dollars. Find someone local who decorates cakes, will save you alot of money



. I was at a wedding and the couple bought minuature hershy bite size candy bars. They were the thicker ones. And they had them in a bowl. Each candy bar had a typed message wrapped around. It read Mr and Mrs so and so thank you for coming and they had the date.



If your not comfortable with using a church basment then rent a legion hall in which you can have the dance also. You could have friends and family make up all the food, do the sandwhich idea.



Have them go through a line. Around here they do not do sit down meals where you are waited on. Your friends might have some teenagers who are willing to help at the reception.



They could go around poor coffee and milk. Take dirty plates. And pass out the cake.



And use good plastic plates and plastic wear.



Look on ebay there are so many dresses that are bran new on there for auction.



I was at at a wedding reception and they did not have cake they had heart shapped cookies on plates on the table.



Go to dollars stores for decorations. They have wedding decorations and napkins and cake plates.



Another friend of mine got married outside in a park filled with flowers out of town. Only the wedding party and immidiate family was invited.



They printed out there own invetations on nice card stock for the reception.



Now this is the most tackey wedding I have been invited to and never went. The couple went to the justice of the peace. and had all the family and friends meet them at old country buffet and they had to pay for their own meal. very tackey.



There is no rule that you need nice fancy floral center pieces. Go the dollar store and pick up some nice candles, they have some very nice exspensive looking candles for one dollar.



you can put an add in the paper saying your looking for a dj for a wedding you will hire the lowest bidder.



You must know someone who can play the piano and someone who can sing at your wedding a friend of family member.



Also for the brides maid dresses to save them money look in the JC Peny clearanc catologe. You can get some really nice dresses for around fifty dollars on clearance.



Limos can be very expensive and you could tell the best man and maid of honor that if they want to get them a wedding gift they could have the wedding party rent a limo.

TOTALLY! I don't think we even spent half that much. We had both the ceremony and reception in my parents backyard, about 65 people attended. I bought invites and RSVPs from a craft store in a box and used my laser printer to make myself. Instead of a full meal we did it after the dinner hour and served hors dervs (trays from Albertsons) along with some simple desserts and the cake. Which we also got at Albertsons for under $200 and it was the best cake I've ever had! We used LOTS of candles and x-mas lights for decorations as well as flowers we bought the day of the wedding. Carnations, some roses, babies breath...etc. Instead of hiring a band or DJ I made 3 CDs on my home computer. One had just special songs, like the march down the isle and the first dance and those types of songs an 2 others for the night and hooked them up to a kareoke machine that I borrowed from a friend. I made favors (little bubble things with ribbon on them for less than $50.00 for everyone) a friend did my hair, I did my makeup ( I wanted to look like me not like Barbie). My husband and I pre-purchased beverages (which we put in huge metal tubs around the tables GREAT look) on sale at Beverages and More and bought things like cups and plates from costco/warehouse stores. No one remembers that the plates were cheap and the forks were white plastic and soda came out of the can, but they do remember we had fun and the cake was good! We did splurge on the photog, but saved on my dress (Davids bridal). So really what it boils down to is spend where it matters and dont where it doesn't.

It's definitely possible. I mean, depending on the number of people you invite you could have a very elaborate wedding for that amount.



Probably the first/biggest issue to work out is where you would have it, because that might be the biggest cost. Yes! The best wedding I've ever been to was done for about $5,000. First of all, it was on a Sunday (Saturdays are more expensive). They had no attendants or groomsmen. The bride got her designer dress for less because it was a sample. The only musician was a harpist. The flowers were bought from a farmer's market. The invitations were done by a friend who is a graphic designer--they didn't have programs for the ceremony. The reception was at a tapas bar they rented out (because they are closed on Sundays).

Yes, we spent $6,500 on ours and it took place a month ago. Just get family and friends to help you with everything. Don't go overboard on flowers, find them cheap at a flea market or do something different for centerpieces (like floating candles). Limit your guest list, we had 110 people, but the caterer was a friend and he did it just for the cost of the food. And the photographer was a friend and she did it for free. A good idea that I've seen on here is to take the bridal party to glamour shots before the ceremony, it's a lot cheaper. Check with your friends and family, maybe they know someone that can cut you a deal on stuff.

Yes,call around to different stores,(wedding cake,food,flower shops,candle stores)and ask them if they would like to donate anything they have left over and are going to toss out.I did i got flowers (roses and Pansies) My sister went to a candle shop and ask for anything they were going to toss out some stuff was broke and did not match or others were just kinda funky looking but with jewels lace and glue anything is beautiful.Food I got friends and family to bring something small like a salad,fruit bowl,etc.My dress came from a dress shop but they rented them out as well and most of them do look on they clearance rack lots of dresses an something might have a small screw up on it but it can be fixed.mine had beads coming off but we sewed them back on.Small churches usually have a small fee and you have to clean it up your self.and ask around or a minister that would do it a great price are wedding cost us 4,300 and that was it and it was beautiful but your wedding will be beautiful no matter what you have or don't have that is your special day.And that is the day you will never forget try not to get so stressed out and if you need help ask for help and someone will good luck
