Question:
Irises as Wedding Flowers?

I am getting married in June 2011, and I'm thinking that I would like to have a bouquet of Irises with each of my bridesmaids carrying a single Iris.

Symbolically, the flower represents Florence where I studied abroad, and the Saints, my fiance's team, while offering a natural blue, which is to be the primary color of my wedding.

However, I can't find Irises in any of the wedding sites. Has anyone used Irises at their wedding? Where did you get them? Is there anything I am overlooking?

Irises are beautiful and I considered using them in my bouquet too, but I will caution you that they are very delicate flowers and wilt FAST. So fast in fact, I decided to use something hardier because the bouquets would never make it through such a long day (8+ hours with pictures and everything). Also, I found that "blue" irises online are 9 times out of 10 unmistakably purple in real life. Just something else to keep in mind for your color scheme.

Any local florist will be able to get you irises, just ask around for the best price and see what your options are.

I love this one- this is what I am basing my bouquet off of.
