By wishing well I think you mean you prefer money to gifts? I do as well, but I've heard that it's very rude to ask for it in any way. The best way I've heard is to let your wedding party and mom know that it is what you prefer and let them spread the word.
I've been to a wedding where they used lottery tickets as favours and I thought it was pretty neat.
