Printing Wedding Programs at home?

I am trying to print my wedding programs from home. I have textured card stock 12x12. I cut it in half to make 2 6x12 programs to do front and back on. I went into page setup on MS Word and made my page into a 6x12. However when I printed it, it printed weird to the side and the Help paperclip popped up saying my print was out of the area margin. It didn't print it in the center of the sheet, lets say. Does anyone know how I can make it print perfectly center? I tried putting the sheet to the far side with the slider holding it in place and when that didn't work, I tried holding it in the center! But then it printed crooked. AND I don't want to try to hold 200 programs in the center of the printer!!! Help! Thanks!

The problem isn't MS Word, it's printing cardstock and your printer.

Is your paper loaded from the top...sort of behind the printer and the paper feeds in from the back? Or is your paper tray on the bottom?

I have a paper tray in the back (at home) and I can never print good from it because of loading the paper. However, my printer at work is loaded from the bottom and have NO trouble. I actually just printed off some engagement party invites and they were only 4 x 5, but they printed beautifully and I used MS Word to format them.

So, I think your problem is the printer...not the MS Word. You will just need to play around with the margins and loading the paper. Also, paper stock is much heavier than regular paper so it does tend to not print right. You may end up needing to take this to Kinkos or Office Max to have printed.

I hate MS Word and that stupid paperclip. I almost never use MS Word because it is such a pain. But you might want to check your printers settings. Also on your print window, you might have additional settings option and that is where you can again set your paper size so that your printer knows where to print it.

Do you have a publisher program rather then MS Word? MS Word is not intended for that type of word processing.

you should be able to download some templates for MS word

try looking here

and you will need to adjust your gutters and margins when you set up for the new page size.

ms word has a print layout option in the view menu that will show you your margins.

can you put it in a spreadsheet and center it in a column you shouldn't have to worry about margins and you can still use headers/footers/fonts
