Question:
Possibly honeymooning at the Grand Canyon. Tips?

My FH and I are looking into honeymooning at the Grand Canyon. And I have some questions. If you could answer any that would be wonderful. I'd prefer answers from people who've been there not just some websites.

1- What are some good hotel rates? Best places to say?
2- Best tours? Should I do a tour package or just explore on our own?
3- How far in advance should I book a room and/or tour?
4- What are some of the best things in the area (besides the obvious canyon)?

Any other helpful tips you can provide would be wonderful.

Thank you so much!!

My brother honeymooned there last fall, they had a blast and took some amazing pictures.

He says:

"Go for a mule ride, no matter what part of the canyon you're staying near. It was the coolest thing we've ever done. You smell bad afterward and walk funny but it about the most amazing thing you'll ever see." Here's a link he sent me:

They also did a Pink Jeep Tour which was very cool and he highly recommends. http://www.pinkjeep.com/jeep-tours/sedona/grand-canyon-experience.shtml

They stayed at a lodge that was nearby the canyon but not in the park. The lodge provided shuttle service which was nice. He says he doesn't remember the name of the place but to check with your travel agent because they can offer some great stuff during the different seasons.

Good luck and have fun!

I've only been to the Grand Canyon once and it was on a "day trip" from Las Vegas. It took us 3 hours by bus to get there, we got to spend a little over 2 hours there and then it was back on the bus to go back to Vegas.

That tour was for the West End, there are several different parts of the Grand Canyon. The West End is owned by Native Americans. This is also the one with the Sky Bridge on it.

I know that you can take a tour to the South End from Vegas too but that takes longer to get to.

north rim or south rim? are you athletic? do you want to have the typical canyon experience, or do you want to see waterfalls? are you up for a hike? tell us what you like to do and we'll offer better assistance.
