My fiance & I are getting married October 9, 2010. We just got engaged last month. Because of family issues, we really want to get married as soon as possible. I've been researching and everyone is saying you need like 9 months to get your dress on time. I'm really starting to get worried that I won't be able to get a dress... =(

The stores are filled with dresses. And seamstresses to fit them. As long as you don't require a designer dress that is made from scratch for your body with a huge price tag to accompany it, you should have no problem at all.

I work as a bridal consultant, so let me put your fears at ease and tell you that yes, you can find a wedding dress. You might even be able to order something, but what you need to do, asap, is get to a bridal salon and start trying on dresses. It usually takes 6-9 months to custom order a dress, but sometimes the gown we want is already in production in the size and color we want, so it's simply a matter of getting it in the store in time to complete alterations. Stores also have sample gowns, that are almost always available for immediate purchase. Also, stores have some stock. The store I work at stocks at least a few gowns in pretty much every size (even plus sizes) for immediate purchase as well. You'll find a dress, just don't put it off for very long, the sooner you get in and start shopping, the more options you'll have! Congrats on your engagement, and good luck!

Bridal dresses are considerably diverse sizing from regularly occurring outfits. you're able to have tried on that type call in the previous you are able to quite guess what you like. In my case, I positioned on a medium in maximum issues and grow to be approximately a hundred thirty lbs. I wore a length 6 in fantastically much each and every thing. I wore a length 2 wedding ceremony gown in on type and a length 10 of their bridesmaid line. when I ordered it, the gown type new grow to be no longer the comparable length because of the fact the gown pattern interior the keep (even even with the undeniable fact that the tag stated it grow to be). no longer even close. I wore the two interior the keep and could no longer get the two I ordered even on the factor of zipped. So I ordered the 4 and it grow to be nonetheless tighter. factor being you will could attempt those on. some dresses are far extra versatile than others yet once you're wanting a corset gown that has no provide, you purely won't be able to guess and have them take it in later. to no longer point out your physique heavily isn't the comparable shape because it grow to be in the previous. Hips would be extra suitable and because that's barely a pair months from the due date, boobs will nonetheless be plenty extra suitable. what's the shops return coverage? in case you haven't any longer worn the gown yet, and you wind up wanting a 6, how perplexing is that? fantastically as quickly as we are speaking 5 months from now. whether that's a brilliant super deal and that's a flowy gown that has far extra provide and a seamstress ought to regulate it easily, order the bigger length. besides the shown fact that IMHO, whether that's a corset gown devoid of provide, wait wait wait. a minimum of till after the toddler and you recognize what length your physique is going to be then. you're able to could pay $one hundred extra for the gown yet while this is $one hundred much less in alternations, that's the comparable volume the two way.

A lot of places say they need 6 months to order a dress, but I got mine in about 9-10 weeks. You may have to place a rush order, though. Or you can buy a dress off the rack (usually cheaper) and have it altered. You need at least 6 weeks for dress alterations, though, so I'd start looking ASAP.

Four months should be enough time to get MOST dresses, so you should be fine! Many companies offer rush delivery, which might be a good option for you. With that, you pay a bit more, but often get the dress in just a couple months.

TJ Formal has several good designers, many of which have rush delivery, so you might check those out: http://www.tjformal.com/48659/Wedding-Dresses.html

Just be sure to make your decision as soon as possible so you have enough time to order and relax! :)

You don't need that much time. I was only engaged for 6 months and I got my wedding dress right around 4 months before. Don't get me wrong; you'll still need to work quickly, but you will be able to get one.

No, but it is cutting it close at some stores. You can definitely get a dress within 4 months. More expensive and traditional bridal stores do request 9 months for your order, so just take your order elsewhere.

It is not to late, worst case you may have to purchase a dress that is in the store!! You just have to be sure when you purchase your dress how long it will be before it comes in. Have an alterations appointment set up and go as soon as you pick up your dress. You will be fine!!!

i bought my dress a year in advance, BUT i bought it from the first place we went to and got it off the rack for $99. I took it home that day. not i have to pay $230 because in this past year i've lost 10lbs so to make it my size again its going to cost that much to get it altered. you have plenty of time to look for a dress. yes, they say look a year in advance because if they need to order you dress it could take months to make, but you can also buy one off the rack from the store! no worries! congrats and good luck

Youre fine. I just ordered my dress last week(my wedding is the same date). The designer said itll come in the last week of August, but the bridal shop is guessing a little sooner. Its not a dress off the rack, it is measured for me. I wouldnt wait any longer, but you should be okay.

While it's getting down to the wire with designer dresses that have to be ordered, all bridal shops have dresses you can purchase off the rack, so don't despair! Just start shopping... like, NOW!

If you plan on ordering a brand new dress through a salon, you are probably out of luck. You can inquire about rush orders, but this can be pricey. Start calling salons in your area and ask how long a rush order would take.

However, there are plenty of ways to get a nice gown within four months:

Start by going to a bridal salon and try things on, to see what looks nice on you. Explain your situation and perhaps they will have a sample gown that they can sell you. It might need a good cleaning and some alterations/repairs, but see what they have in your size that looks nice on you.

If you try on something that you like, hit the Internet and see if anyone is selling it, or something similar. Sometimes brides sell their gowns after they've worn them in the weddings ... and some girls buy a gown, then buy a new one and try to unload the (unworn) first gown. Try looking on eBay, Craigslist, preownedweddingdresses.com, oncewed.com and savethedress.com.

Also try on bridesmaids' dresses. Many are quite elaborate, and a lot of designers actually sell the exact same dress in white (for a higher price) as a bridal gown. Inquire about a rush order on bridesmaids' gowns, but those typically come in much faster than bridal gowns because there is less labor involved.

Nordstrom.com, dillards.com, Jcrew.com and AnnTaylor.com sell bridal gowns, so check out their websites.

Look in stores that sell formal dresses ... boutiques, department stores, prom stores like Windsor. See if you can find something in white/ivory.

There's no rule that you need to be in a white/ivory dress. If you like color, then get a colored evening gown or a colored bridesmaid dress. Look in the aforementioned stores, and also bluefly.com and overstock.com. (I saw several white evening gowns on Bluefly that cost under $500 and could EASILY pass as wedding gowns ... here's a gorgeous one: http://www.bluefly.com/Marc-Bouwer-GlamIt-white-silk-off-the-shoulder-draped-gown/cat20112/306354401/detail.fly)

A bonus about this is that you would have the chance to score a designer-name gown without breaking the bank ... for example, Bluefly.com has a bunch of colorful evening gowns by Badgley Mischka, Vera Wang and Nicole Miller, all for maybe under $600 apiece. Which is expensive for a regular evening gown, but a steal when it comes to wedding gowns. You would probably pay at least two or three times as much money for a "wedding gown" by the same designer.

I ordered mine in December, I thought I had plenty of time. I didn't get the dress until May 17th. It was a nightmare to deal with. Get an off the rack one. You do not want an added stress.

Good luck!

No as long as you have it in hold than you should be fine. Becuase even though you might not think it you can lose or gain a lot of weight in that time. Just make sure you know what you want

Nope, it's not. Try Gioavonni's Bridal Boutique. They do RUSH orders and their prices are still less expensive than regular store boutique's even with their RUSH fee.

If you want to have a perfect extravagant dress it is probably too late. But there are plenty of briday boutique that have sample dresses, very good designers but probably last season dresses that they will sell cheep and you can have it the same day you buy it.

All you will need to do is alter it to fit yourself. Give 2 mounth for alterations and go to someone GOOD who knows how to work on wedding dresses
