Question:
wedding talk....?
2008-07-10 11:08:19 UTC
I'm getting married in September and i wanted everything to look very elegant and sophisticated. My colors are basically black and white with Fuschia colored flowers. Here is my issue... My bridesmaids are wearing black, the groomsman are wearing black tux, black shirt, black vest, white tie (it looks better than it sounds), i was originally thinking my table runner would be black (takes up the whole surface of the table) with white underneath before i found the dresses, but now i'm wondering if it will be too dark? and if i should go with a fuschia table cloth. I'm worried the flowers wont pop as much and it will be too much pink between the flowers and table cloth? The lights will be dimmed and we should have about 250 guests. Any advice? or maybe a website i can use to layout the color scheme?

How about the napkins or chair covers be fuschia?

Tie a fuschia sash around the bridesmaid's waists... it will keep it from looking like they are at a funeral. Plenty of candles (or led lights in the flower vases etc - save-on-crafts.com has lots of great lighting options and are very reasonably priced!) will help the black look luxurious and see if you can splurge on getting high end fabrics for all or part of the table (make that runner black velvet for example). You could also try to do white table cloths with a black satin ribbon on the edge etc...

I would definitely bring the fuchsia in as an accent color. Although black is sophisticated and classic, you want it to look like a wedding, not a funereal. Use fuchsia as a punch of colors in places like the napkins instead of the entire table cloth and/or tie fuchsia ribbons on every other chair back. You could use fuchsia and black colored fonts for your ceremony programs, seating cards and dinner menu. Very understated like just the titles in fuchsia. Or use black paper with white and fuchsia font. You could also wear a fuchsia garter! All these little things will allow the fuchsia color to pop without is taking over the sophistication and class that black and white has.

Hope this helped!

what about using white on the tables? the flowers would stand out and it is the easiest color of table linen to rent/buy - you could also do a white table cloth with a black runner, using it to center the eye on the flowers. something fun might be (based on your three colors) to do a runner with complimenting colors with a pattern - you could use less flowers and make your centerpieces more simple this way. my favorite wedding website when planning mine was theknot.com - it's great!

I love the colors together.. very fresh and classy. But I wouldn't use too much black.

How about this?
