Purple Just so happens to be my favorite color and I am a huge fan of the floating candle. I would say that you should get a clear vase (maybe with some gold trim) and some purple and yellow pebbles and then put a candle (in the shape of a flower) in the water. This should give you a wonderful effect, as the lit candle will bounce light off of your colored pebbles at the bottom of the vase.

Hope this helps!!!!

I dont know about the yellow candle I d use a white one and use yellow and purple for whatever other decorations u want to put on the vase, the water being purple sounds good. However this is just my opinion do ur wedding however makes u feel best!

you could have a big cylinder clear vase and just use clear water and use those flowers in some weddings that are just emmerged in the water. lillys maybe? and pick purple and yellow ones. then for the white you could get a thick piece of ribbon and wrap it around the base or something. you could surround the vase with tealights too for a little extra touch.

that is the basic idea. water with flowers inside.

instead of using the food coloring put rocks at the bottom and a mirror under the vase. Or fill the entire vase with sand and put flowers on the top of the sand!

unfortunately the purple food coloring will probably get all over the yellow candles and look a mess. Or if it's sort of dark in the reception, the water will look black. Plus what if someone tips it over on accident, yikes- purple dye all over aunt cathy's dress. yikes. How about something a little simpler like yellow daisy arrangments with lavender sprigs?

I'm sure there is a bunch of christmas decorations on sale right now that are silver balls. I bought a bunch a few years ago because I wanted a Christmas tree with just blue & silver balls on them. That would be something, then you wouldn't have to spray paint all of the fruit. I'm sure you could find some black balls of some sort. I'm not sure how spray painted fruit will look, not sure if I've ever seen it before. I've never seen fruit as centerpieces before, but if it's what you want. Go for it, it's your special day.

Your idea sounds nice. I would suggest testing it first though. The flowers could suck up the colored water and you might end up with grey looking blossoms (yellow and purple are opposite each other on the color wheel and when mixed result in values of grey). Opps never mind, I thought you were floating flowers on the water.

What time of year is your wedding? Do you have any theme besides the color scheme.

I don't particular like that idea. If you cannot afford to hire a florist, I would find inexpensive vases and go to a flower mart and make simple arrangements. I think you will have to add white and some greenery to them as well. In my opionion if you only use purple and yellow, it will look like a LA Laker party.

How about clear water (less mess in case of a spill!) with daisies and candles in both/all three colors?

Getting the water color 'right' and 'all the same' could take some time. The easier it is for the decorating crew, the better.

I would get a great (tall) vase, maybe a pretty clear purple glass one, and put nothing but a bunch of tall peacock feathers in it. Personally I don't like everything in a room to be too matchy-matchy. Add a few things that blend in, but don't match exactly.
